Hi sweety, it's unusual to see a youngung digging for bones. My Granny calls it. LOL. There are many sites to research your family tree. The best thing though is to pick your family brains(older) to try and find out what your grandfathers name was. Some of them will know if you have any. Try aunts or uncles maybe. If there was a family bible dig it up. who got your grandparents papers, possessions. Think dig. write down any angle you can think of and go from there. the trick is to dig up just a few names and you can find out from there. Good hunting and if I can be of service give er a hollor. My ggrandfather like estranged hisself from his family in the 1920's. I posted inquiries on these geneology web sites and found cousins who were my 2nd and 3rd who were looking too. we teamed up and posted some more. A lady in Calif. notified us and sent us a whole book of our history. We actually belonged!!! One thing to remember, if your a hammonds? yes, we're all kin somehow. Good luck kiddo, your not alone!~!!
