Dan, In a letter reprinted in the book, James wrote to George in 1832 that he and Sarah have three sons, Alvin Dean, Hamilton Marion and James Cicero. His only children from his first marriage living with him are Susan and John Henry. The other children, Sally, ?, Capunder and Missouri are living with their Grandfather Brockman. He also stated his wife Anna died after a severe spell of fever in childbed, "leaving a child which is still alive and living with her Aunt Cammell in South Carolina. Polly died in Dec. 1823, and left one child which is still alive." From this information I would think the James Hammett in Franklin Co. GA in the 1830 Fed. Census would be this James Hammett. 1m <5 - Alvin Dean, 1m 5-10- John Henry 1m 40-50- James 1f 10-15 - Susan 1f 20-30 - Sarah Hope this helps - Donna Notify Administrator about this message?
