Donna-
Thanks for the information you posted to this forum!

I'm looking for a Henry Hammett b.c1826 in GA who was in Calhoun Co, AL by 1850, where he served in the Civil War and died in 1864. His wife was named Rebecca (last name unknown).

Children (all b.Calhoun Co, AL):
1. James A. b.abt 1845
2. Sarah A. b.abt 1847
3. Edmond P. b.21 Mar 1849
4. Masouri b.abt 1851
5. John H. b.abt 1853
6. Francis M. "Frank" b.May 1855 (twin)
7. Wesley William b.May 1855 (twin)
8. Malissa "Mandy" Jane b.abt 1859
9. S. E. "Zilphy" b.abt 1861

Since Henry Hammett was born in GA, I searched for possible fathers in the 1830 GA Federal Census and came up with two possibilities:

1830 Carroll Co, GA
James Hamet
2m 5-10
1m 30-40
1f <5
1f 10-15
1f 30-40

1830 Franklin Co, GA
James Hammett
1m <5
1m 5-10
1m 40-50
1f 10-15
1f 20-30

Do you know anything about either of these men?

Also, is there any follow-up in your book on the son of James Hammett and Anna Brockman (James Henry Hammet)? He was born around the same time as the Henry I'm looking for.

Dan Atwell
