Charles, I think I have some info about the Hammer family in Pelham that you are searching for. The Hammer family includes Ernest Hammer Jr. a NYS Supreme Court Justice who oversaw the Lindbergh kidnapping trial, and his father, Ernest Sr. a pioneer builder in the Bronx in early 1900's died in Pelham Manor in 1941. His father Edward was also a mason in the late 1800's and Edward Hammer, son of Michael Hammer of Germany, and Elizabeth Lambeing of France, died on June 27, 1917. I am related to a brother of Edward, Jacob who married a Kiernan who suffered a cruel murder in 1876 as recorded in the NY Times. The Hammer family lived at 5th Ave and West 57th St in the 1850/1860's. The family apparently was living in NYC since their arrival to USA in 1825 from Germany. I can certainly share more of the details if you think this is the right Hammer family. I would be interested in hearing about your info going forward to the current time.
