I posted this message in 2001 and have had no responses so I thought i would try again.
I am seeking information about any ancestors or descendents of Charles Hammer. I know he was living in Chicago, IL in 1856 and then in Madison,Wisconsin in 1860. He remained there until after 1870 and was in San Francisco, CA at least in 1879-80. He died in Hawaii in 1896. He was a harness maker by trade. His wife was Josephine, and his children were George Alfred (Fred), Caroline(Lena), Emil, Ludwig, August, and Elenora(Nora). Both Charles and Josephine were born in Norway around 1830-31.Lena's first husband was Julius Bryn.
