I am a new "Hammer" family member since I was adopted and just found my birth father within the last 10 years! I am excited about finding my true family origin. (with my father's blessing)! Is there anyone with info. on Carl J. Hammar- born Aug. 27, 1845? The army changed his name from Carlson to Hammar(Swedish). He married Christina Sophia Svensdotter Hammar on Apr.14,1867. Retired from the army in 1875. Came to America May 6, 1892. Died Jan 19, 1908 in Newman Grove, Nebraska. The family later changes surname spelling to Hammer. His children were: Emil Vilhelm (b. Dec. 14, 1866 in Djursdala Forsamling Kalmar Sweden), Johan August, Ida Sophia, Anton Elof, and Maria Hedvig. Emil married Anna Sophia Nordgren (Oct. 27, 1904) Then has 7 children: Rudolph, Albert, Selmar, Alphia, Esther and Alyce.
I have lots of old black and white family photos from this family that need to be identified also!
