My great grandfather was John J. (in some documents looks more like I.) Hammel, born in Wuertemburg between 1818-1820. He was living in Montcalm County, MI in 1850. His wife, Emily was born in MI. They had 7 children, the youngest born 10/22/1869. She was Martha Elizabeth Hammel. In 1885 she married a man 24 years older than she was, George Washington Everett. These are my grandparents. My father was born 3/10/1896 and married my mother in 1944. She was 28 years younger than he. We lost Mom in 1975. Dad died on 12/19/1996, just 81 days short of 101! I'll bet that your John Hammel and mine were cousins!! Wuertemburg is a good sized district in Germany. I would like to find the locality of my great grandfather's birth, too. If you learn anything new, please let me know. Thanks, Martha
