My husband's family moved to Mississippi before the War Between the States. The family bible was stolen sometime after '72 when the empty house was ransacked and plundered.I had written down the family tree from the bible, but I can't find it.I found this site today and replied to Nell's query about baby cap of Mrs. A.A. Hammack. Her husband was Albert Augustus whose father fought in the Civil War and was a Presbyterian minister. They first settled in Noxubee Co. before buying land in Kemper Co.the rev. lived on the road between Scooba and DeKalb. The only sibling of (I think) A. A. was Amanda who married a preacher named Berry.According to the family bible, this branch was descended from Jesse Hammack who, with his brother Stuart came to this country during the revolution and spent the winter with Geo. Washington at Valley Forge.I KNOW there were names and birth dates and death dates from people in Ga. and Ala. before they settled in Ms.Sorry I don't have more right now. Maybe one day soon my copy will turn up.
