My James Ham was born February 1854 in Giles County, TN, and died June 1933 in Grayson County, TX. He married Sallie or Sarah Williams about 1874. Their children were: Anna, Frances, Charles S., John W., Marion Pettus. George Lee, all born in Giles County, TN, and Cora and Lonnie who were born in Texas.
I can trace James for sure back to 1880 when he's already married, but not before that. I've found one James born the right year in the right place, living with the Berry F. Gower family in 1860 when he was 7, and 1870 when he was 17, but no relation is listed for him. He's just there. I couldn't find any tie between the Gowers and the Hams, either.
If anyone can give me anything more on this family, it would sure help.
