Descendants of Alvis D. & Lucy P. Davis Hamlin, last of Pueblo Co. CO, 1870-1900
Seeking descendants of Alvis D. Hamlin and Lucy Parthena Davis HAMLIN, who married in Llano Co. TX circa 1862.Family had moved to vicinity of Pueblo Co. Colorado before 1870, where A.D., as he was called, died leaving Lucy with several sons. One was named Vincent Edward, and another was A.D., Jr.Lucy is shown as a widow in 1870, but by 1880, she had remarried a man named John Brooks, with whom she raised 2 additional sons.
Family lived southwest of Pueblo CO and were originally buried in a cemetery that had to be moved because of Turkey Creek Reservoir.I think the cemetery is called Swallowfork. The entire HAMLIN family is buried there, as well as many of the BROOKS.
The area is a mining region, and records show LUCY ran a boarding house at one time with many miners, both single and with families, living there.
I know son VINCENT EDWARD was married, and that first wife, named ANNIE, died, as my family has a card sent to them at the time of her death pre 1900.I am hoping there are either HAMLIN or BROOKS descendants out there who can help fill in many gaps regarding Lucy's family.Lucy was a sister to my gggrandfather, Caleb A. Davis.Lucy was daughter of Wm. K. BILLY & Elzira ? Davis, who came to Llano Co. TX ca. 1852 from Yell Co. AR and settled along banks of the Colorado River in Central Texas.
Lucy married Mr. Hamlin, a single storeowner of the first store in that area of Texas, but HE had at least known some members of the Davis family prior to Texas from Johnson Co. AR, where he lived in 1850 with his parents, the Wm. Hamlin, of NC origins.Close relatives of the Davises were also form Johnson Co. AR, just north of Yell Co.
I can supply MUCH Davis information and SOME Hamlin information to any descendant of LUCY, which should be of interest to both her Hamlin and Brooks children.
