My ancestor in North America appears to be Edouard (Edward) Hambleton, son of John Hambleton and Judith Daul of Dublin, Ireland, who is listed as Edouard Ambelton, the Mastrechauffer aux forges de St. Maurice in Canada. He had married 1) Ester Cook, widow of Pierre Prevost of Londres; by whome he had Claude Edward, b. 23 Apr. 1739 at three Rivers: Marie Joseph, bapt. 2 Apr. 1741; and Nicholas b. 19 Mar. and bapt. the next day in 1741. Edward Hambleton md. 2) on 4 Nov. 1742, to Marguerite Duruau-Poitevin b. 1714, daughter of Pierre Duruau-Poitevin I; by whome he had: Joseph, b.31 July 1743 (dy); Joseph, b. 30 Aug. and bapt. 12 Sept. 1744; and Pierre Richard b. 9 Aug 1745 Pierre Richard d'Ambelton b. 9 Aug. 1745, son of Edward Hambelton, md. on Oct 1773, at Detroit, to Marie-Joseph Petit, b. 1749, d. before 1789, dau. of Jean-Baptiste Petit.
