1) When working on Hamilton family on computer last week, I came across a listing for a will for Adin Hamilton in Houston Co. GA, Will Book B 1855-1896. Houston is not far from Talbot County.
2)Are you working with Hamilton family in Texas? The only information that I have is that my great-grandfather, Thomas James Hamilton was "from Texas". Census records show him born in GA in 1852. I have no names of brother or sisters and can find no Hamilton's in the cemetery in Ellerslie, GA. where he married my great-grandmother. I checked Talbot County because it ajoins Harris Co. and many families moved across the county line. This was cotton growing area in the 1850's. You might also check Taylor Co. A John C. Hamilton married there in 1881. [email protected]

Columbus was there, as was Adam Bundrick, Efa's brother. More later, when I find the time to look this stuff up. Efa (Effie) Bundrick b. 1802 Dutch Fork, SC D. 8 May, 1870 Pike Co, AL Parents John B. As her pedigree is online, and I was told by a woman, who by coincidence knew her in Florida (lives near me in N. Alabama), this woman is now deceased, so I can no check with her as to her provenance. Okay...I was wrong. The Book that was taken by the Latter Day Saints to be copied is a will book with Daniel's will. I was so excited, then so let down to find that it was not in the courthouse. And>>>> A deed with it stating that "I Henry L. Jones of the Count Pike and State of Alabam for and in consideration of one hundred dollars pain in hand by Daniel Hamilton, the .....I as hereby acknowledge do hereby grant sell .....and confirm unto the said Daniel Hamilton all that tract .......of land ..etc.....to the said Daniel Hamilton his heirs and assign to their use and behoof forever and I do ? with the said Daniel Hamilton his heirs and assign that I am etc. Anyway, the dates are all in March, 1852. So, we are wondering, did Daniel come to Alabama, buy land, go back to Georgia for his family, fall ill, and die? Effa was later living with one of her sons in Alabama. I need the 1860 census for Alabama. More...later. Do you want copies? [email protected]

Subject: [Sp@m] Daniel Hamilton
I found two children in 1880-both showed Daniel Born Ga...
So if Adin (who probably had him in the 1830 census shortly before his marriage) and Cogdell both married in Jones Co. Ga. 1822 and 1824-and Daniel was born in Ga. 1810-
We can assume his parents were in Jones-1822-30.....
SOME GEORGIA COUNTY RECORDS Vol 5-Emmett Lucas
only has ONE Hamilton listed
Jones Co Deeds-Book A-B 1807-1810 pg 128- John and he is no longer in Jones Co. (If he was)

Ga. has very few early records- our earliest census-were lost in a fire-in our Fed. Capital, I think I remember. Few were saved-county wise. Oglethorpe is one of those few who had a copy.

Why is all the Spa@M
When Daniel was born in 1810-if Ga--there were very few areas open. So it whittles it down.
Wilkes-was definately one- Greene Co., Hancock Co. (Clark and Warren are mentioned)
Jones Co. Ga.THE HANDY BOOK FOR GENEALOGISTS Seventh Ed. Everton Pub.
Jones Co. was created 1807- (1810 census not available) (1820-1880 are)
It was created from Baldwin, Bibb and Putnam Co. Ga. And none of those areas-show a Hamilton that early.
Mattox is NOT BIBLE- and anything you find-is subject to proving-but he is a place to start.
