Hi Dorothy,
I'm sorry that it has taken me so long in finding your posting. My e-mail changed and I forgot to update it here.
Catherine Hamill was my g-great grandmother born abt 1832.
She was in Yonkers, New York by 1856 where the first of her children were born. John and Eliza Hamill were listed as sponsors on her childrens baptisms at different times.
She had a sister Bridget who never married and both were buried together in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City with the head stone stating that they were native of Dundalk, Co. Louth. I've not been sucessful in finding anyone in the 1850 census and not much luck as far as finding them as a group in the immigration records. There is a Catherine and Bridget traveling together on the Glenlyon in 1849 but the ages are slightly off and there is a James and Laurence traveling with them.
Anyhow, I hope this finds it's way to you and contains something that might ring a bell.
