Thanks for making contact. It would certainly sound as though there is a connection but I have no idea how to make that connection. I have been meaning to correct some of the information in my note as I have since got some of the family "straightened" out. A second cousin of my dad's recognised the information and contacted me and we have managed to sort out some of the family between us - it has been great to have found a living relative! I will post all the information I have now gleaned in case you recognise any of the details: Daniel Hamill born probably late 1700's had at least two sons, Daniel born about 1920 and John born about 1830. There is certainly room for several other children between them. Another researcher kindly gave me information on Daniel who married Hannah Montgomery and they had 6 children, William Henry b 1843, Daniel Alexander b 1846, Hannah b 1847, Mary b 1849, Edward b 1851 and RoseAnn b 1852. The daughter Hannah married James McCann in 1873 and they had at least 5 children - Sarah b 1874, James b 1878, Annie b 1876, George b 1882 and Charles b 1885. John the fisherman married Jane McFarland in 1853 and they had 3 children, Mary Jane b 1855, Hannah b 1859 and John b 1862. Mary Jane married William Doherty in 1876 and went on to have 8 children, Hannah b 1878, Mary Elizabeth b 1880, William b 1881, Anne b 1883, Margaret b 1886, Patrick b 1887, Ellen b 1891 and James McFarland b 1894. Hannah was deaf and dumb and was sent to school in Glasgow where her maternal grandparents lived, she married John Lafferty (also deaf and dumb)in 1886. They had John b 1887, Jane b 1889 and Mary McFarlane b 1891. John married Mary Jane Wilton in 1888. They had at least 11 children, John b 1888, Barbara b 1889, Jane McFarland b 1890, Mary Rayney b 1890, James McFarland b 1894, Lavinia Wilton b 1895, William b 1896, Martha b 1897, Daniel b 1898, Alexander Wilton b 1902 and Hannah b 1905. I am away from home just now, but on my return I will hunt out other information I have gleaned on Hamill's from the Portrush area and send it to you Notify Administrator about this message?
