My gt grandfather was also John Hamill and came from Ballykeel, Dunluce Co. Antrim. He was born around 1850 and married Margaret Ann Drain on 12/12/1874. His father was Charles Hamill. They were farmers. I am sure there is a connection. Have you any other details?
