An update/correction to information posted in 2006.

An Ann HAMER married a Henry Pitt MEREDITH 12 January 1869 in Hay, Breconshire, Wales.

Ann was a spinster, of full age, residing in Hay, and daughter of William HAMER. This is all I know of her, from marriage certificate. Cannot find a birth or death record nor a census record for her.

Henry was widowed, age about 50 (from other records), a gentleman of independent means and retired goldminer, residing in Cusop, Herefordshire at time of their marriage. A witness of the marriage was his brother David MEREDITH, who never married and lived at Cusop. Their father was James MEREDITH, a farmer.

Previously I had supposed Ann HAMER was the mother of two children of Henry born in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire that are shown on census records. But just recently found on their birth certificates that they were born to his third wife, Ann EVANS, who he married in 1872. So one possibility is that his second wife Ann HAMER died in childbirth.

Elizabeth WILLIAMS was another witness to the marriage. Know nothing about her.

Can you help in learning more about Ann HAMER, her father, and witness Elizabeth WILLIAMS?
