Hi Sarah,

My wife is a Hamel girl with two sisters so they are the end of their lines as well. We might also have some other things in common. My wifes line also traces back to a Andre Hamel, and this Hamel line went back and forth from N.Y. to Canada and back again a few times. I was watching some history channel stuff and there is quite a bit of info as to why the french were there, what they were doing, and why they went back and forth across what we now think of as "the boarder".

Anyway, it would be interesting if we can fill in some more details. If interested write me at my home email dongulledge01@hawaii.rr.com .

Also, you might want to look here for your Canada family info. Someone gave this to me and we were able to find a lot of good stuff. It isn't super easy to use, but once you figure it out there is a lot of stuff there, and it's free.
