MRS. RANDOLPH HAMBY, 49, DIES NEAR CARTERVILLE
Carterville, Mo., July 11--Mrs. Lola Mae Hamby, 49 years old, wife of Randolph Hamby, died at 5:20 o'clock this afternoon at her home at England Hill, north of Carterville, following an illness of nine months. Mrs. Hamby had been a lifelong resident of Webb City and Carterville. Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Mary Bruhn of Baldwin Park, Calif., Mrs. Betty Seymour of Kansas City, Mrs. Ruth Roderique of Joplin, Evelyn and Iris Hamby of the home; three sons, Linville Hamby and Carl Hamby of Cincinnati, O., and Robert Hamby of the home; three brothers, Fred Lassiter of Joplin, Paul Lassiter of Webb City and Neal Lassiter of Union, Mo.; five sisters, Mrs. Hazel Schultz of Carterville, Mrs. Elva Waller and Mrs. Fern Kennedy of Kansas City, Mrs. Marva McNally and Mrs. Nadine Webb of Joplin, and four grandchildren. The Webb City Undertaking Company is in charge of arrangements.

LOLA MAE HAMBY RITES AT WEBB CITY MONDAY
Carterville, Mo., July 12--Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Mae Hamby, 49 years old, who died late yesterday afternoon at her home on England Hill, north of here, will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Webb City Undertaking Company funeral home. Dr. Otto C. Seymour of Joplin will officiate. Burial will be in Carterville cemetery. Pallbearers will be Howard Beard, Claude Perry, Francis Roderique, Gus Roderique, Everett Oliver and Earl McKibben. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the funeral hour. (My note: Earl McKibben was Lola's first cousin--their mothers were sisters.)

CLARENCE LASSITER, CHRISTIAN UNION PASTOR IS DEAD
Rev. Clarence Lassiter for years a well known local pastor, in charge of the Christian Union Mission in the northeast part of Webb City, died this morning of tuberculosis from which he had been a sufferer a long while, having suffered hemorrhages many years ago. He was widely known for the good work he accomplished in his chosen field. Rev. Fred B. Kinell has been summoned from Bonett (Note: may be Monett) to conduct the funeral service here next Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock probably from the Christian Union Mission church where the deceased had served so long and so faithfully as pastor.

DEATH OF MRS. JANE LASSITER--LIFETIME HERE
Mrs. Jane Lassiter, age 60 years, who spent her lifetime here, died at 6 a.m. today, after three weeks illness at her home at 820 North Walker street. She suffered a heart ailment. Surviving are three sons, Fred and Paul Lassiter here, Neal Lassiter in Carterville, six married daughters and four sisters. The Webb City Undertaking Co. will have charge of the funeral.

ANOTHER CIVIL WAR VET GONE
William H. Gibson, 86 years old, and a veteran of the Civil war, died late yesterday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. George W. Barclay, 917 North Hall street. Gibson served in the Union Army in southern Iowa, western Missouri and northern Arkansas. He had resided in Webb City vicinity fifty years, and operated a dairy here. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. George Barclay, Mrs. Janey Lassiter and Mrs. Bessie Todd of Webb City, Mrs. Lula Lassiter (My note: Jane's sister Lula married William Joseph Lassiter, brother of Clarence Lassiter) and Mrs. Effie McKibben of Picher (My note: Picher, Ottawa County, OK), and Mrs. Mamie McCully of Royal Oak, Md. The funeral is to be conducted by Rev. Mrs. Lou Love Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Christian Union chapel with burial at Carterville. (My note: Wm. Gibson served twice in the Civil War. First as a private in Company K, 15th Iowa Infantry, and secondly as a sergeant and Company Commissary Sergeant in Company I, 9th Iowa Cavalry. His obituary did not mention that his first military engagement as a private in the infantry was at the battle of Shiloh. He became very ill several days after the battle and was sent to the army hospital in St. Louis, and then to the army hospital in Keokuk, Iowa where he remained several months before he was finally discharged from service and sent home with the army surgeon's prognosis for his recovery as "Distant and uncertain." When he had recovered about 10 months later he enlisted in the cavalry regiment. His younger brother James Gibson also enlisted in the same regiment and company and served with William throughout the war until they were honorably discharged in March 1866.

MRS. MARY GIBSON died this morning about 10:30 o'clock, at her home on the South Hall street road leading out of town, past the Mo. Pacific tracks, near Port McGaw's home.

THE FUNERAL OF MRS. GIBSON will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. with burial at Carterville. Mrs. Mary Gibson, 73 years old, died at her home southeast of the city yesterday morning. Funeral services will be held from the Christian Union church on North Tom street and burial will be in Carterville cemetery. She is survived by her husband, William H. Gibson and six daughters; Mrs. Clarence Lassiter, Mrs. George Barclay, Mrs. Bessie Todd of this city, Mrs. J. W. Lassiter, Mrs. Effie McKibben of Picher, Okla., and Mrs. A. P. McCully of Tulsa, Okla.
