I don't have much to offer except that I suspect these Hambletons to be of the family Hamilton who were Scots removed to County Down, northern Ireland. Their home there was Killyleah Castle and today is the oldest inhabited castle in Ireland and still the home of the Hamiltons. I suspect this because of William Hambletons association with Robert Trail and Robert's mother being a Hamilton. These Hamiltons were close associates of the royal Stuarts and had intermarried with them. This relation would have been beneficial to those Hamiltons/Hambletons adventuring to Maryland or Va.
