Hambleton gravesite in Northern California

While fishing in the Spenceville Wildlife Area in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada east of Marysville, California, I happened on a number of concrete slabs on a grassy hilltop. The slabs are flat with very little protruding above ground level, so it would be possible to walk nearby and to miss them completely. There are at least 16 concrete slabs, 13 of which appear to have had embedded headstones that are now broken off and missing. Three of the slabs appear to have never had headstones, but have engraved markings:

Abraham Hambleton 1803 - 1861 (The "3" is unclear and may be an "8")
Ellen Hambleton 1803
Ben Hambleton 1838

I know nothing other than this of the Hambletons, although I see from perusing this site that there are some Hambletons that were in California at around the right period with the first names Abraham and Ellen.

If I may be of any help in this matter, please contact me at mngwright@juno.com or, in the United States, at 916-726-1673.. I apologize if I am cluttering up the message board with information that is already known.

Best regards,

Maynard Wright
