Hi Lester,
You sound like me, my Indian blood link is so FAR removed that I like you am probably 1/ one millionth, but since Moody is my maiden name and has so far been the most difficult for me to trace, I want to know what it is regardless of the truth or fiction of its past ancient history. I Love genealogy and know it comes with many misgivings and many - "Great Grandma said" stories, but I still love searching them out and trying to the best of my ability find all that I can about my ancestors.
The Indian thing is the hardest ever because no one admitted they were if they could pass for whites and many of my family just kept moving around so as not to be found.
When you do find them, they have different names and ages and places of birth from census to census, so trying to decipher if all has been quite difficult.
I know I will probably never have the Real truth about my family lineage as records were so poorly kept, but I'll be satisfied to just find out who the Parents were of my Dr. Joseph D. MOODY's FATHER who was also a Joseph Moody.
Thanks for the reply and good luck to you on finding your family as well. I think the real truth died with all of our ancestors.
