I am looking for information on my graet grandmother Martha.
Here is what I have:
Martha was born Martha Hamblen, sometime near the 1870s. No idea of the date. I belive she lived in or near Scott
Co., TN
She married a man with the last name Ellis, became Martha Ellis. by this man she had a daughter Stacy Ellis in
around 1904-05. Not sure of date.
At some point her husband was killed in a trail accident and she was widowed.
on Sept 16, 1911 she remarried to a John Henry Adkins. He was 24.
They had a daughter, Grace Adkins “gracie” who died of whooping cough at the age of 13 mos. She is buried in or
near Oneida, TN Birth: June 13, 1912 death: july 13, 1913 Not sure of grave location. I am told the family lived in
oneida at this time.
Martha and John moved to Ohio (Newcomerstown) after Gracie died, but before they had a son in 1917.
They had a son Albert in 1917
And a daughter Elsie Mae In 1919 (my grandma)

Stacy got pregnant out of wedlock and had a baby Gladys Ellis in 1923.
Stacy died of tuberculosis in 1935 and Martha and her husband adopted the daughter.
John Henry died may 17, 1959
No idea when Martha died, my aunt tells me it was probably sometime around 1963-1968. I know she is buried in or
near Newcomerstown, OH.
