JACOB Y. HONNOLD was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, March 20, l8l7, died in Indianola, Iowa, March 4, l902, aged 84 years, ll months and l4 days.
Two weeks before his death, he fell down stairs, breaking his right arm, and he never rallied from the injuries received, but grew gradually weaker until death released him.
He was united in marriage with SARAH HAMILTON in Ohio, Feb. l4, l839, and to their union were born six sons and five daughters, four sons and one daughter surviving him, JAMES W., of Leon, Iowa, HUSTON T., of Humeston, Iowa, CHARLES W., of Indianola, J.FRANK, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and MRS. F.M. HAMAKER, of Smith County, Kansas.His wife died at Indianola, March l, l889.
The deceased came to Iowa from Ohio in l857 and located on a homestead claim 2 l/2 miles northeast of Humeston, where he resided until l882 when he moved to Indianola on account of declining years and made his home with his son, CHARLES W. HONNOLD.He was converted when l2 years of age and for 73 years was a staunch and zealous worker in the church, ever a faithful attendant upon the services of the church, through bodily weariness and affliction delighting in the worship of God.He and his wife were two of the seven persons who organized the first M.E. Church in Humeston.
Short funeral services were held at Indianola, Tuesday at the home of his son, and his remains taken to Humeston, Wednesday where funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Cozier, being attended by a large number of his old friends and neighbors.The interment was in the Humeston Cemetery by the side of his beloved wife.
