I'm not related to any Ham's (that I know of), but had specific reasons for wanting to know the circumstances surrounding his death. I'll try to make this explanation as brief as possible.

For years and years, I've been researching the unsolved murder of Kit Wages, my g/g/uncle. When I saw the short excerpt about Mr. Ham's death, the date is what initially caught my interest; his death was like 17 days from Kit's. There are other similarities, as well. They both worked for the railroad, and while Kit was a tressle guardsman at Doctortown, GA, on the Altamaha River, and Mr. Ham an engineer, I can't help but wonder if Mr. Ham's job took him to this area of the river.

The place where Mr. Ham lost his life isn't really all that near the Doctortown area -- it's about 15 nautical miles away. But, Kit's residence was near where the tragedy took place.

I'd heard the story of Kit's murder from my grandfather since I was a child in the 50's and according to family legend, the killer was never arrested, much less brought to trial, despite the fact that Kit's wife was in the house where Kit was murdered. She was never forced to name his killer. All these years later, I'm no closer to finding any answers. I suppose I'd hoped that there might have been some clues in the account of Mr. Ham's tragedy.

I thank you sincerely for sending me that Ancestry link so I could read the entire account. God bless!

Ruth
