Hi Michele. Regarding Peter (Peder/Per) Halvorson. He was born August 9th, 1869, 18-Mile Creek, Wisconsin shortly after his parents arrived (7/4/1869) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin from Haldorshavn, Norway. I don't know for sure what year he left home, but he had a falling out with his father, and other than telling his mother good bye, they never heard from him again. I have not been able to trace the origins of the story that he died in the Klondike. Some family branches recount that, others do not. I do have a photo of him. I don't know if he married, or not. I think I have found an indication that he boarded a ship bound from Alaska/Yukon to Seattle and then San Francisco in the late 1890's, but cannot confirm yet that the Peter O Halvorson was our Peter. My mother told me his baptised name was Per Olaf or Olaus, and since he was the first boy in the family, and his dad's name was Olaus, I am inclined to believe that for the middle name. But no proof until I go to Wisconsin next summer, if then.

Does any of this ring a bell? E-mail me directly if you want me to send you a .jpg of his photo.
