Beecham Haltom and Mulatto wife abt 1705
In the Moravian writings there are several references to a Beecham Haltom and his mulatto wife. They seemed to have acted as a go-between with the Moravians and the Cherokees.I would like to know more about this man and his family if possible.I think our line developed out of his family. Our line is Hilton/Helton and is Native American.Very soon after the contact with Beecham Haltom that name appears in our family about three times.
Our name is Hilton,
Our DNA is Native American
Our testimonies from family records are that an Indian married a Hilton woman and the Indian man took her family name.
The name Beecham, (Percham, Beachum, Beacham) appears in our family in the mid 1700's on into the early 1800's in Rowan County.
Could anyone tell us more about the Moravian records and this man Beecham Haltom.
