Nannie Catherine Halsey NM>CA 1920's/30's
Researching Nannie Catherine Halsey Eddy County New Mexico in the 1920's. She was the wife of Fred Halsey and is written about in the book Looking Over My Shoulder Seventy Five Years in the Pecos Valley by Cecil Bonney.
Mrs. Halsey and my great uncle Luther Foster hired a man named Claude B. Archer to kill her husband, Fred Halsey, for insurance money.
All three were sentenced to hang but were later paroled by the Gov. of New Mexico. Luther Foster and Nannie Halsey lived in Los Angeles, CA. She is the informant on his death certificate and is listed as his employer. They never married.
Nannie Catherine Halsey had at least one prior marriage to Mack Fletcher, foreman of the Turkey Track Ranch, that ended in divorce. She had a daughter named Bertha (married ? Fields) possibly from another marriage.
