Hi John,

Things may not be what they seem. It appears I was probably following a false lead and my Halls family may have no direct connection with Thetford.

A confirmed relative of mine (although I haven't yet established exactly how we are related), was Louisa Mary Halls who married John Burrell, fourth son of Walton Burrell in, I think, 1866. The Burrell family were famous for their work with steam traction engines and were based in Thetford Norfolk. This is what made me think the Halls family may also have come from that region.

I have since learned my Halls family came from the town of Denham in Suffolk. I haven't pieced together all my information yet; a lot of it comes in the form of snippets from Google Books. I have on order a publication called Denham Parish Registers which I know contains information on the Halls family and will make another GenForum posting when I have gone through this information. Families they have married into include Cornell, Ruffell, Steward, King & Burrell.

Regards,
Tasman.
