George O'Halloran
Hi Anne
George O'Halloran is my great, great, great grandfather. His son George Stewart came to New Zealand before 1860 and carried on a successful trading venture moving sheep to the South Island from the North Island. He lived a short but successful life in Wellington, where he died at the age of 65. Prior to his death he sent for his brother Richard's sons, Gerald and George to come out to him from Ireland to better their prospects as the family shipping business in Ireland was becoming less than profitable. The boys came out and had many adventures in the new country but did not continue with their uncle's business, preferring to strike out on their own. Eventually they married and their own families became New Zealanders.
My line is the patriarchal one, from George to Richard(who eventually did come to New Zealand when his wife Jane died in Ireland), to Gerald, who founded a successful accounting business in Auckland where it still prospers today as O'Halloran and Company, to his son Gerald Richard, to his son Gerald Lionel, to me Gerald Michael to my son Michael, to our grandson Kieron.
If you have any information about our family line before George O'Halloran-Co Antrim 1780 I would appreciate receiving it. Cheers-Gerald O'Halloran
