John Homer Hallock, 1880's, Illinois

Sarah Jane Tyler is my gg aunt. Her sister Missouri Orabelle “Belle” (Tyler) Jones is my great grandmother.Their parents were Samuel and Mary C. (Miller) Tyler of Pinckneyville, Perry County, IL.
This is first time I've seen John as part of Homer's name.Regardless, I believe that we are talking about the same individual. The information I have is that his name as “Homer F. Hallock”.The spelling for Hallock is sometime Halleck, Hollock, et al.
I do not believe that Homer or Sarah ever lived in Tilden, Randolph County, IL.I do know that their son, John, did.John was born in May 1883.I believe he died in Randolph County, IL in 1966.
In the 1840 census there is a Homer W. Hallock living in Palmyra, Preble County, Ohio; Page 224 .I believe this to be Homer F.’s father.
Homer was born circa 1843 in Ohio (per the 1880 and other census records).
As I said, his father was Homer W. Hallock and his mother was Christina MNU.See 1850 Census Newton, Trumbull County, Ohio, Film M432_733, page 312 and 313.He is listed as Homer F. age 7.
Not sure exactly where Homer F. or his father were in 1860…I haven’t had time to look. However, he was in Minnesota...see next paragraph.Sarah Tyler is 10 months old living in Pinckneyville, Perry County, IL with her parents.Head of household is Jacob Tyler, Samuel elder brother.
Homer was a veteran of the Civil War.He entered as a Private on August 19, 1862 and mustered out with a disability (wounded) as a Private on May 31, 1865.He fought for the Union while in the 7th Regiment, Minnesota Infantry. Military records reflect the spelling of the last name as "Halleck". I have sent away for his military/pension records in hopes of determining the county Homer was born in – perhaps it’s Trumbull.Hopefully, it will also contain a physical description of him; there a good chance because of his disability.
Homer can be found in the 1870 census in Le Sueur County, Minnesota living with his father and I believe, his stepmother, Margaret. Here Homer F. is listed as 26.
Homer was Sarah Tyler's second husband. She went on to wed two more times. She married Homer circa 1878.Her first marriage to Robert H. Morrison was on March 17th 1873, Perry County, IL.
According to the 1880 census (National Archives Film T9-0625 Page 324A) Homer and Sarah lived in Cleveland, Le Sueur County, Minnesota.I believe this is where John and his two other siblings were born. The children listed on the census were Albert Emery, age 1 and Mary C. Hallock, age 4 months.I don't have a clue as yet as to what happen to Albert, but I there was a Mary Hallack who married a William Chappell in Perry County, IL on 02/18/1896. This might be Mary C.
Living near was Homer F's father, Homer W. and his second wife, Margaret (National Archives Film T9-0625 Page 320B).Note that Homer W’s parents are born in Connecticut.
I don’t know what happened to Homer but I do know that Sarah married a third time on March 10, 1886 in Perry County, IL to a Richard M. Taylor.According to my great Aunt Edith Sullivan (who passed away on August 1, 2002) all of Sarah Jane’s husbands preceded her in death. The Taylor marriage license listed her as a widow and this marriage as her third.
John Hallock is listed as John H. in the 1900 census as a stepson to a Richard W. Taylor; wife Sarah J. See 1900 Census IL, Perry County, page 110.The marriage license has it as Richard M. Taylor.Their union produced 4 more children: Margaret (Betty), Lona (Loni), William Samuel and Elsie.
Sarah Jane died on August 02, 1950 in Pinckneyville Perry County, IL.At that time, she was the widow of Joshua Lemmon.
I hope this helps.Now, I have a few questions?
How did you know about Sarah Jane’s marriage to Homer?Do you have a marriage license? Bible reference? Or ?Do you have any photos of Sarah with Homer?Or Homer himself?
How do you know that John’s middle name is Reynolds?Did John marry a Margaret?
What is her maiden name?If I have the right John Hallock he had three children by the 1920 census.Marie, William and Jack. Can you give me particulars on these and any other children?
Hope to hear from you.
Carole
