My family line is from John Jasper Shook and Leanner (Leannah?) Lucinda Hallmark. They had a daughter, Mahala Elizabeth Shook (my GG-Grandmother). Family members are telling me that we have a Native-American connection in Mahala, but I've not been able to find a connection for either Shook or Hallmark. I just received a letter from my great-aunt and she said she believed Mahala was registered with the Indian nation at Tunica, Miss. I'm not sure how to go about finding out.

Chickasaw has been mentioned, but my distant family is not much into geneology, so this is just speculation I believe. I'd really like to find out, so if you find a connection please let me know!
