John, I guess that you already have your answer to this posting by now, but just in case here it is again.
Yes, George Washington Lafayette Hallmark, b. 1836, was the son of Carter Louis Hallmark and Keziah Hughes, b. 1836.
Yes, George did marry Martha Morton 1 Aug 1855, Blount Co. AL.
Yes, he did die as a POW in the Rock Island IL prison on 5 May 1864.
He was survived by his wife Martha and 3 children: Viannia E. Hallmark (my g-grandmother), William Carter Hallmark, and Johnson Hallmark.
