What a fountain of information you are!
What you said about the port of departure and the actual area that they hail from makes total sense.
I also have heard that the Halligan clan ( a minor clan) were actually dedicated to the McQuire Clain as drs. and health care providers.
I am not certain how much truth there is to this.
I do know that there are still direct relatives of mine in Canada. It would make sense that family could have arrived there through NOva Scotia.
I was Named after my Aunt Mary who was nicknamed Kit and was born in the 1890s.
I know that this might sound a bit silly but the very few people that I have ever met and/or viewed photos of from the Halligan side of the family all had eyes that tipped down on the outside. It is consistent in each generation.
