Hugh Halligan, from Co. Mayo to Phila.
I am researching my family's history starting with Hugh Halligan, my great grandfather and his wife Bridget Delia Quinlisk Halligan, my great grandmother. He was from Kiltamagh and she was from Charlestown.Family legend says that when my grandfather was in WWII, he was in NY and found Halligans in the phone book. When he called home and mentioned it to his father, he father told him not to look them up because they were the "black sheep".It turns out that it may have been my great grandfather that was really the "black sheep" and maybe he was trying to stay unfound.Any information regarding Halligans or Quinlisks from Co. Mayo would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
