Hi,

I also research Halligans from Mayo--mine are from Tavneena, which is not too far from Knock. My family also went to Philadelphia. Here are some resources that may help you:

--1901 Irish Census at www.censusfinder.com
--Birth, Marriage and Death records at www.mayoancestors.com (there are fees to see the records, but if you poke around, you can confirm information and get good hints)
--The Ellis Island site for immigration records, also try Stephen Morse's site for checking Ellis Island records--its more in-depth.
--Try "Mayo on the Move", which has forums
--The LDS have many of the church records on microfilm as well. Check www.familysearch.org for the film numbers and a local family history center where you can view them.

Hope these are helpful. Best of luck to you!

L
