Hello,

I just had a letter sent back to me from a priest in County Mayo parish Kilmovee. My letter was describing my desperate search for my GGGGGrandfather James Halligan.
I have heard things from others that he may be buried in Old Kilkelly Cemetery or Culmore Cemetery
He died Feb 25 1870 and this information was taken from Kilkelly civ deaths vol 2 page 79 informant Catherine Shannon, Barcull
James Halligan married Mary Shannon on Jan 8 1862 (witnessed by Sabina O'Grady and Thomas Harrington). This information was taken from Kilmovee RC reg mar, vol 2 page 28

What's my point here?
Father Cawley was the first person to mention the area of Tavnina? in Charlestown Parish that could be an area where my James Halligan came from due to him not being able to locate him being baptized in the Kilmovee Parish Register. He also mentioned that Halligan's still live in this area

All I can say about James is that from what a South Mayo research centre found was that they searched the records of Aghamore and Killedan and found nothing
I always felt that there was an error there due to how many times a Patrick and Bridget Halligan's name showed up on James and Mary Shannon's childrens baptism records as sponsers.

Maybe your query is borthers and sisters of James, but how can we connect the dots

James and Mary Shannon had issue

Thomas
bridget born culmore
catherine died 2 mths
mary died 7 days
ellen born culmore

Thomas Halligan married Honoria Hunt their children are as follows
James F (married Isabella Herbert)
Thomas
Mary Ellen
Norah
Patrick
Catherine
John
Margaret
Elizabeth

Thomas-Honoria Family immigrated to USA in 1888 and resided in New Jersey

After James death Mary Shannon/Halligan remarried Daniel Moran and they have 5 more children

They immigrated to England according to 1901 census

I could go on and on here, but I was surprised to see the mention of Tavnina on a message board, so I had to try

Maybe there is something here who knows
My relationship line runs through Thomas Halligan

If you'd like more details emaail me
poettommie@yahoo.com

or horttommie@usadatanet.net (I've been having trouble with this account so the sure bet is the yahoo account)

I have lots of dates etc from the research that was done including information for names in the family which include
Moran
Tarpey
Hunt
Shannon

I hope to hear from you soon
