Dear Denise

I have been in contact with my aunt, who lives at Blackpool in England, she can not remember what my grandfathers sister Bridget married name was who lived in Philadelphia all she remembers is that she thinks the man she married, may have been wealthy, has she used to send my grandfather money, my grandfather registered the land at coolmaken in 1914, my aunt was born in 1932 and she was the youngest sister and child, my mother was born in 1928 and was called Ellen and her bother who was the oldest child was called Martin I am not sure how old he is, but far has I know he was a few years older than my mother, I am not in contact with my uncle, so I cannot find out , my aunt thought my grandfather had been born in coolmaken but she could have made a mistake has the land was not registered till 1914,
I have been working out the dates, your relative could be my grandfather, my aunt thinks her father was in is fifties when she was born, her mother was twenty seven when she married my grandfather Martin Halligan, if your relative was born in 1879, this would make my grandfather aged fifty three when my aunt was born which is about right, my grandfather had a brother called Thomas and a sisters called Margaret and Bridget who went to Philadelphia, Margaret married a Michael Griffin and they lived at Mayfield Claremorris , which I think is the Marefield which your relative was born at, I am forty seven years old, but I remember visiting the Griffin family at Mayfield has a kid.
all the area round about is called Mayfield, I sent off for my grandparents death certificates a few weeks ago, for my aunt before seeing your posting , I was told the waiting time was five weeks for the certificates, I don’t know if it will have grandfathers place of birth on it, if it does I will let you know, if not I will send for is birth certificate to find out is place of birth, the only relatives in claremorris are the children of Thomas Halligan my grandfathers brother, one of is sons can be contacted at

Halligan, John Farm hill Claremorris Tel: 094-62441

I don’t know what the code is for Ireland from where you live, do you live in the states Denise, I can be contacted at JMcgivern@aol.com

Yours

James Mcgivern
