Thanks for your response.Yes, you do havethe right Halley family.Henry Halley's parents were Richard Simpson Halley (ca.1750-1816)and a woman with first name of Lydia. To my knowledge, no one has ever proven that she was a Dinwiddie and a marriage record has never been uncovered.Henry Halley was married in 1806 to Polly Patton, a daughter of James Patton and Elizabeth Dinwiddie. If you've read Vaden's book and are descended from John Presley Halley, then I'm sure you're familiar with Ada Halley Brown who passed away about twelve years ago.She was a daughter of John P. and was certain that her father was "John Presley."George Halley did have a brother mnamed John Patton Halley.Like many families, The Halleys seemed to name their children for their sibblings, so we have a lot of name repetition.I do not have my geneology material here with me, but I recall that Henry and Polly had six sons: James, Richard, Matthew, Dinwiddie, John and George. These names are identical with the six sons of your own George Halley and Maria Surber! It gets confusing! On the Surber side, Maria Ann Surber was a daughter of Jacob Surber and Nancy Waggoner.I have some information on the Surber family as well, but all of my research is tucked away in a box at my mother's house.I'm certain that I did a group sheet on George's family and would be glad to share it with you.
