Charlotte, According to James Riker Jr., in "The Annals of Newtown, in Queens County, New York" (1852) William Hallett and Elizabeth Fones had a son Samuel, born about 1651. Samuel Hallett born about 1651 made his will 7 Oct 1719. He did not name a wife, but he did name daughters Elizabeth Jackson, Grace Hewlett, Mercy Cornell and Martha Hazard, granddaughters Mary Cornell, Hannah Washborn and Sarah Hazard, and he named his son Samuel Hallett and son-in-law James Hazard executors. Son Samuel Hallett was born about 1678, in Queens Co., N.Y., and died 7 Mar, 1756 in N.Y. He married Bridget, daughter of Robert and Mary (Manning) Blackwell. She died 19 Feb 1749. Samuel Hallett Jr. of Newtown, Queens Co., N.Y., made his will 28 Apr 1752 [N.Y. Historical Society Collections, "Abstracts of Wills on File in the Surrogate's Office, City of New York"] In it he named seven daughters: Mary Pettit, Sarah Berrien, Elizabeth Macdonough, Bridget Wright, Lydia Milleam (Milliken), Martha Welling, Phebe Hallett, and children of his daughter Jemima Greenoak. He also named sons John, James and Jacob Hallett. The will was proved 11 Mar 1756. See also: Mrs. H.D. Pittmann, ed., Mrs. R.K. Walker manager, "Americans of Gentle Birth and Their Ancestors", (Baltimore, MD, Genealogical Publishing Company, 1970); and "Records Kept by Rev. Thomas Poyer, Rector of Episcopal Churches at Jamacia, Newtown and Flushing, Long Island, N.Y." transcribed by Josephine Frost, 1913 (LDS microfilm reel #0017713, Item 14) It appears reasonably certain Samuel Hallett Jr. married Bridget Blackwell.
