Charles Halberg (1857-1952) - Sweden > MN > WI, buried Menomonie
Seeking any info on Swedish-born Charles Halberg or his Norwegian-born wife, Ingeborg Hawkinson Halberg (1865 - 1910).Charles had been a sailor between leaving Sweden and arriving in Wisconsin.
Have heard Halberg spelling changed at immigration; may have been Hallberg or other.Charles and Ingeborg Halberg may have lived in the vicinity of St. Paul, MN before moving to Menomonie, WI.1920 census information for Wisconsin, vol. 22, e.d. 96, sheet 9, line 59 - shows Charles was age 62, born in Sweden, citizenship was 1883 Na 1903.
Charles & Ingeborg had 5 children: Laura E.; Harry; Mabel G., Martha L. (a.k.a. Lanna), 18; Lillian I (a.k.a. Babe). Laura was born in Minnesota; others all born in Wisconsin.
Only Harry Halberg and Lanna Halberg Maxwell Alseth had children.Harry's sons ended up living in the Pacific Northwest (Dick & Jerome?); his daughter Jeanine is in Florida.Lanna's daughter, Shirley Louise Fair, went to Pomona, CA; Lanna's son, H. James Maxwell, went to Iowa and Nebraska.
