Dear Glenn,
I am a descendent of the Stoney Middleton Hallams, and have been reading your postings about them with great interest. How wonderful to be able to trace my family back so far!
My father is Aydin Önaç (1951-)
His mother is Muriel Hallam (1924-) (sibs are George William (1918-2007), Peter (d), Cyril, Margaret (d), Mavis)
Her father was Urban Wyatt Hallam (1884-1974)
His father was Peter John Hallam (1838-1911)
His father was John Hallam (1805-1885?)
And his father was John Hallam (1775-1844)
...at least, I think that's how it all links up! And of course you may already know the above.
Sadly my Great Uncle George died 6 months ago (buried in St Martin's) - he was a great follower of the family tree and I know he was in contact with a John Hallam in America, and possibly also with you??
Uncle George was the last resident of Stag House, having lived there for over 80 years. He sold it in October 2001 to move in with my Grandma in a nearby village. We were all very sad to see the family home finally leave the Hallams.
I am keen to see the tree Uncle George had, although I don't know if it has any more than is already on the Genuki websites.
Do you know anything about John, Joseph and Septimus Hallam (?children of John Hallam (1775-1844) and Ann Hall (1776-1840)) who died in infancy and must have missed the censuses completely? Do you know if 2 of their other surviving siblings, Elizabeth (christened 1816) and Jonathan (christened 1816, lic of the Royal Oak), were twins? My dad's sisters are identical twins and one of them also has twin daughters - are there any Hallam twins?!
