Hi Carol, you're right, Thomas is recognized by the DAR as a veteran of the Revolutionary War. I have the paperwork in one of my files if you're interested. The other connection to the Revolutionary War is through Thomas' second wife, Sarah Van Voorhees. Her father, Auke Isiah Van Voorhees was also a veteran of the Revolutionary War, also verified by the DAR. The last time I visited Thomas and Sarah's graves in Sabina, Ohio was on a 4th of July weekend, and it was so touching to see the small American flags by their headstones, as a recognition of service by Thomas and Sarah's father.
