Hi Michael,
Delighted to hear from you. I remember your grandparents, who I knew as Uncle George and Auntie Lily, coming to visit us in Brighton when I was a boy! I was only looking at some photos of them a couple of days ago, with my mother. My grandmother was Annie Hallam who married Eugene Mathews. They had two daughters, Nancy and Dorothy Jean (always known as Jean). Nancy died when a few months old, and Jean is my mother. I presume your father must be Eric, who as far as I know emigrated to South Africa. I don't have much more info about the Hallams, but I do have loads on the Burtons (and the Gedlings), as I have the Burton family bible.
