Hello Faith;
I was reading the info on Payne Halladay and had never seen any documents with his name listed. But the name "Payne" rang a bell as a last name tied with Halladay. The Children: Claudius and Rowland, have military records so I looked at them (partly listed below). It seems that Lewis is the father not Payne. If this is so, the proven ancestry is listed back to the 1620's in the US.
