I wish I could say who your William Hall & Joal Lane are but I can only hope that we can make a connection. I have the below deed abstract in my Hall file. I don't even know when he came to Onslow Co, NC., only that he died there. I know that William was born in VA, but just where I am not sure. I do know that his son Samuel married a Mary Lane. Who her parents were is unknown. She was born on 5th April 1771. Samuel was born on 13th March 1766 and died 7 June 1826 in Brunswick Co, NC. I am not a direct descendent of this Samuel, he was a half brother of my g.g.g.great grandmother Nancy Ann Hall who married George Mitchell in Onslow Co, NC. I don't know that they were married in Onslow, just that they lived and died in Onslow.
Halifax Co NC, Deed Bk. 8, pg. 583 (179) Joel Lane Esq. of Halifax Co to William Hall gentleman of Northampton Co. 5 Aug 1762. 100 lbs. 460 acres, south side of Coneconary Swamp "known by the name of Cullenders."
Hallifax Co, Bk. 10, pg. 1407 (331) David Jarrell of Halifax Co to Wm. Hall of same. 20 Feb. 1769. 30 lbs. proclamation money. 48 acres joining sd. Wm. Hall.
