Lafayette Marcus D. Hall and wife Lydia
Lydia HALL is my Great- Aunt and the sister to my Great - Grandmother Margaret Emiline Ryan. She was married to Lafayette Marcus D. Hall and lived in Pittsburg, Oklahoma.
According to history and family legend the father of Lydia HALL was said to be full Blood Cherokee. Also the family lines that where intertwined with this family such as the Ryan's, Basham's , Hill's, Childers, and Smith's are of Cherokee Blood also. Not sure why they are shown in the Choctaw Nation in 1900 being Cherokee? Trying to study on this and maybe someone can help shed some light on this. These families came out of the Carolina's and then to Georgia and then to Alabama and many went on to Arkansas, Oklahoma.
Lydia and Emiline's uncle on their grandmothers side, was on the Sallisaw District Census of the Cherokee Nation in 1860. Many of our family that remained in Alabama at on time went to Logan County Arkansas and later into Oklahoma, and then for some reason returned back to Alabama.
We know some information on her family that went out west to Arkansas and Oklahoma and that her father and other sisters and a brother that stayed out there with them in Oklahoma. But due to time and forgotten memories lost forever, we had lost touch with our family in Arkansas and Oklahoma, and up until recently after much research discovered them again.
I have quite a lot of information on her father also in Oklahoma and the family that remained behind here in Alabama. I am here to share and help and hopefully work with my HALL cousins to piece together this great Puzzle of lost history, benefiting us all.
PS. I have many old photos of Lydia's other sisters and cousins, but sadly no pictures of her parents or of Lydia I do have a nice picture of a handmade blanket that Lydia's sister Emeline made (my Great- Grandmother). She weaved the cloth and dyed the thread with berries and plants in Cherokee tradition and made it in a Native pattern. One of my older cousins who is nearing 100 still has the blanket. She brought it to a reunion two years ago and it was very beautiful. Oh how wonderful it will be to be able to connect with my lost cousins, and thanks again so much for all your help. Reba Skillman
