Magaret v. Hall, wife of Wm. S. Her maiden name?
Re information posted by S. Sharpless in 2003 #18528 this forum: I thank her for the data. I am very interested in learning the maiden name of the wife of William S. Hall who is included in that message. He and David McDonald Hall are iidentified as grandsons in the will of Benjamin Hall (d. 1843) Hancock Co Ga, through his son James M. Hall and wife Mary. The 1850 census lists William, age 14
and David 10 in James M's family.
I have a listing from 1860 Baldwin of William S. Hall age 24 and wife Margaret V.age 21 with infant son William.
Margaret is the right age to be the Margaret age 11 listed in Hancock Co 1850, daughter of Thomas Wright and wife Sarah (Carlisle), who are my GGgrandparents through their son Pierce b. 1845. Enumerated next to William and Margaret is Tabitha Butts,a teacher, who would marry Pierce in the early '70s I wuld surely like for Margaret to be Pierce's sister .Can anyone identify her??
Up to now I have no surviving descendants of Thomas and Sarah except for the children of Pierce and Tabitha. His sisters married but neither had children, and his only brother diein the Civil War The Halls' descendants might be a source of information. I have not been able to trace Thomas back. I think he was probably son of Robert Wright of the '20 and '30 census in Hancock with land on Fort Creek. Wm. Hall'schildren on the '80 census are: William 21, Maggie 17,Roberta 13,Jenny 11, McDonald 9,Mamie 6,Linch 4,Katie 1.(Thanks to Gerri Hall for those names).
Also sduggestive is the record of burials in Memory Hill Cemetery Milledgeville. The plot, originally owned by M.G. Lynch, contains the graves of Mr and Mrs. George Wright-This might be the George Wright and Lucinda Carlisle who were next to Thomas Wright in Hancock '50; a Jenny Wright, possibly their daughter Virginia;
Mrs John Henry Temples(Pierce Wright's sister Sarah), William Burkett, secondhusband of sister Ann. The two of them were appointed contacts for Pierce Wright, an inmate in the Milledgeville State hospital, Ann's brother. Oddly she seems to be buried as Mrs M.G. Lynch, though he had died before she did and she m. Mr Burkett
Also in the plot are M. Lucile Chandler, 1865-1969;
Robert H. Chandler1860-1946, and Maggie HALL Chandler 1862-1930.Robert is likely the son of Eliphalet Chandler who witnessedthe will of Benjamin Hall, William S. HALL's grandfather, and the 'byt next door" to Maggie Hall, Wil;liam's daughter.
I'd appreciate anything further. Thanks for reading this.Fay
