Caroline Hall, born 24 January 1829, married Jesse Carey Sumner, Sr. on 6 Feb 1845 in Marion County, Florida.
There are more than 15 “Family” trees on Ancestry.com that list Caroline’s parents as Seaborn and Lucretia Crissie Quinn Hall of Appling County, Georgia. (as I do at this point)
I strongly suspect that Seaborn and Lucretia Hall were NOT Caroline’s parents. Seaborn Hall moved from Tattnall Co. Ga to Appling County as a young man….about 1826. He was married twice, with his first wife living only about a year after marriage and they left no issue. Seaborn and his 2nd wife, Lucretia Quinn, lived their entire lives, and had all their children, in Appling County. Seaborn died in Appling Co. on 18 Aug 1884.
Caroline Hall was 16 years old when she married Jesse Sumner in 1845. The Seaborn Hall family was in Appling County where he was quite prominent, and, as far as I can determine, was never in Marion County, Florida. (“Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia” lists the children of Seaborn and Lucretia….but no “Caroline Hall” appears)
Is it possible that Caroline Hall was a daughter of Soloman and Nancy Hall who lived next door to Jesse and Caroline Sumner in the 1850 Marion County census?? Or someone else?
Any descendants of Jesse and Caroline Hall Sumner, or others, have any information, ideas, thoughts…..or anything….on this issue??
I’d appreciate any ideas, clues or comments.
