SHOCKING MURDER -- The Marysville 'Appeal,' of the 21st instant, gives the following account of a shocking murder perpetrated near Nicolaus, on Feather river, on the 19th:An old man, named Peter TAYLOR, aged 60 years, assaulted Ferdinand HALL, or 'Rube,' as he was commonly called, with
an ax, splitting his skull in 3 or 4 places to the brain, which of course killed him. His body was then removed from the cabin where the deed was perpetrated, taken to a convenient place for the horrid orgy, and surrounded with wood and other combustibles, which were then fired by the
murderer. When found, all portions of the body were consumed save the trunk. These unholy deeds were perpetrated about 1 ' miles below the town of Nicolaus, on the ranch of J.T. LEE. It seems that the murdered man had been sick. At any rate, his remains were found by a physician, who called to see him on a professional visit. The murderer, TAYLOR, is at large. He is a man of small stature, weak eyes, is shabbily dressed, and has a squeaking or squealing voice, and has been a sailor. A warrant has been issued.
