Beryl,
Thank you so much for your contribution to my files. Sara was indeed my g grandmother who was born 17 Jul 1834 and would have made her 81st birthday in the month of July in 1915.Would you happen to know where she and Daniel are buried.
The John ( 1779 ) son of Samuel and Betty was my 1st cousin 4 times removed and was born 11 April 1779 in Clough Head. He died on 6 Feb 1831 in Stubly,Rochdale and was twice married, first to an Ann, and then to a Nancy Sutcliff.
John's parents were Samuel Hawkard ( 1755-1785), and Betty Stansfield. Samuel and Betty Stansfield were married on 26 Dec.1776 in Rochdale.
Samuel was son of John Hawkard (b. 1715) and Mary Stott ( 1720-1785).John was son of John Hawkard and Elizabeth Howarth. Finally, John was son of James Hawkard ( 1646-1679) and Ann ( 1650 -1691).
James and Ann were married in Hundersfield in 1670 and were my 6th g. grandparents. I believe James to be son of James Hawkard ( 1610-1657)of Hundersfield.
I hope this helps and thank you for your dates which I believe to be accurate with what I already know.
My grandfather was Daniel Halkyard who was born in Rochdale on 14 Feb 1877 and emigrated to New York State about 1898 and lived in Orange County,N.Y. before moving to the Bronx in N.Y. where I knew him. He died when I was ten years old in 1956 at age 79. Thanks again, Ted Bates in Indiana
